There is one major project for this course that has two parts. You will choose two websites for this project.
1. Website System Error and Feature Analysis
A. The first part of the project will involve choosing a specific college's website (preferably one of the top ten schools) and check to see if there are any errors on the site. You must also analyze the features of their website. We are looking for the errors and problems on the site you analyze. The error and feature analysis of the site will be done according to the 7 C's. The first three C's are listed in order from most important to least important.
1. Content- There is volume to the site.
2. Correctness- The context and data on the site is right.
3. Currency - The website up to date.
4. Completeness- There are no broken links.
5. Compelling- The site is pretty.
6. Consistency- Everything is in order and has a common structure.
7. Customization & Community- The website serves the client.
You will demo your work in class. You can see an example of a former Student's work on the website http://www.computerhumanerror.org/
*** You must copy and paste the website pages you are analyzing as proof of the error.
We will be using WWW.OLDWESTBURY.EDU during class to demonstrate the analysis of a website.
Extra Credit- Extra credit will be given if you provide solutions for the errors and feature problems you find during your analysis of the webpage.
Be sure to use a top school and focus on the errors and inconsistencies of the site!!!
B. The second part of the project will involve finding a C++ tutorial website and analyzing it for the seven C's.
Compare the content of your tutorial site to the textbook and use Programming Easy Ways as your guideline. We will be going over Programming Easy Ways during class.
