4/25/06 - Phase I and II

7'c's Critical Evaluation of Site

Kliment & Hausband - Farideh and Daphne - Excellent!

Report included suggestions for improvements that could be sent to company.  Some of the suggestions included:

Position and font size of company name

Font size and color of link menu.

Pictures not consistent in size.

Links fade into background of other pictures * Critical problem

Portions of picture covered by description and text.

Daphne promises a cut of any monies made - first check only.

Numbering format could be clearer - Picture numbers could be shown underneath the picture.

Some site pictures do not correspond to name of project.

Some project descriptions do not include dates of project completion, etc.

Projects which don't have planning information available should indicate same - instead of asking viewer to make  another selection.  This does not clearly indicate that no information is available.

No information regarding last site update.

Site could include lists of clients, awards, news archive, publications, recent projects, current projects and exhibitions, if available.

Link to other sites for design ideas implies there may be better designs available elsewhere.

Web System Analysis - Phase I   - FARIDEH

Introduction:  Richard Meir & Partners Architects / Gwathmey Siegle Associates Architects

Already discussed 7 C's - therefore this presentation will include a review of previous material.

Areas reviewed:

Founder Information on both sites

History of both sites

Mission of both sites

Uniqueness of both sites - Flash is used on the home page of Richard Meir & Partners.  Pictures change as you click on each link.  Gwathmey Siegle uses more color and pictures.  For every option on the menu there is a picture and a blueprint.

Differences of both sites compared to Other Sites:    Color used for background, homepage has additional links such as press and Contact; three ways to contact the company.

Similarities of both sites.

Tutorial Site - Online C++ Tutorial

History

Mission

Uniqueness

Weakness - Not current - last updated 2003

Personal Opinion - Farideh - Content is comprehensive, well defined and clear.  Also, examples are very tangible i.e., (gave samples of coding)

PHASE II - Website Analysis - The 7 C's of Richard Meier & Partners - DAPHNE

Content:  Color, font size, menus.

Consistency:    Page centered, text turns red when clicked, pictures consistent throughout menu.  The only inconsistency noted was loading speed of some of the pictures - some loaded immediately but others didn't - a progress bar pop-up.

Compelling:    Too much white space - no advertisements.

Complete:    All three sites do not include copyright dates.  Should also add to menu - should use space to link to sites featuring founder materials, background info, etc.

Current:    No date - cannot determine date anywhere except in announcements.

Correctness:    Date ranges change

Concise:    Very organized, not overwhelming

Creativity    Uses flash

Community - Has link for community to employment and general contact information in addition to access to internal information.

PHASE II - Website Analysis - The 7 C's Gwathmey Siegel Associates

Content:         Color, font

Consistency:   Webmaster listed,

Consistency:   Each page in menu has a different color, blueprints under pictures.

Compelling:    Pictures great-colors too black.  Webpage has a lot of empty space.

Complete:    No copyright date, some projects not complete.  Separate menus such as Designs, Campus Planning and Adaptive Reuse needed.

Current:    No copyright date - could only find a date from an announcement on the site which was not complete.

Correctness:    Each link active - including pictures.

Concise:    Submenu should be to left of main page - not above.

Creativity:    Sixteen pictures which all bring you to different menus.  Each picture automatically enlarges upon clicking.

Community:    Only lists telephone and fax number.
